■ Lecture: Jonathan Waterman

Explorer, author and photographer Jonathan Waterman gives a talk tonight (May 2) at 8 p.m. at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts at 500 Castro St. He’ll focus on his adventures following the Colorado River from its sources to the Mexican border, and speak about the importance of water as a resource. ■ Art: ‘Flora and Fauna’

Barbara von Haunalter is showing her watercolor paintings of flora and fauna, including jungle scenes from her travels in Costa Rica, this month at the Portola Art Gallery at the Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. The artist is a Los Altos Hills resident and member of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society.
