The Palo Alto Fire Department held safety demonstrations at Stanford Shopping Center Sunday as part of the Palo Alto Safety Faire. The faire included the fire department’s “Smoke Trailer,” which was used to demonstrate how to safely escape from a smoke-filled environment.

The fire department also had a fire engine on display, handed out stickers and badges, sold bottles of Palo Alto Firefighter Pepper Sauce (with proceeds going to charity) and showed off its mascot, Sparky the Fire Dog.

The fair was hosted by the Palo Alto Stanford Citizen Corps and included exhibits from American Institute of Architects, KZSU, Stanford and Lucile Packard hospitals, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Palo Alto Airport/LifeFlight, Palo Alto Rangers, Palo Alto Neighborhoods, Palo Alto CERT, the Bay Area chapter of the Red Cross and others.
