■ Art: Susan Hall

Atherton painter Susan Hall, who has a background as a portrait artist and a teacher on decorative arts, is showing her work during April at Viewpoints Gallery, 315 State St., Los Altos. ■ Film: Central Asian Film Series

As part of the Central Asian Film Series at Stanford University, the 1998 Kyrgyz film "Beshkempir: The Adopted Son" will be shown tonight (April 19) at 7 p.m., with an introduction and commentary by Alma Kunanbaeva of the university's anthropology department. The coming-of-age film will be screened in Building 200 (Lane History Corner), Room 030, Stanford. Go to events.stanford.edu.
