■ Film: 'The Great Famine'
Tonight (April 6) at 7:30 p.m., Stanford University hosts a free screening of the new documentary film "The Great Famine," part of the American Experience series. The film is based on a book by Hoover Institution research fellow Bertrand Patenaude, and the screening is at Lane History Corner (Building 200), Room 002. As part of a benefit concert for Haitian earthquake relief, the Ivory & Gold Trio (Jeff and Anne Barnhart on piano and flute, Danny Coots on percussion) will perform jazz, ragtime and Tin Pan Alley tunes tonight (April 6) from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The concert is at First Baptist Church of Menlo Park, 1100 Middle Ave. Donations will be accepted.
