Palo Alto AYSO boys' team claims big tournament title

 

Winning five matches over two days last weekend, the Palo Alto U10B Boys' AYSO Select soccer team captured the 2011 Northern California Pleasant Hill/Martinez Soccer Tournament.

Palo Also Salsa Verde opened with a 5-2 victory over the Davis Golden Force on Saturday, and followed that up with a 2-1 triumph over MDSA 1 United FC and a 4-2 win over the PHMSA Spartans.

That earned Palo Alto a berth in Sunday's semifinals, where it eliminated the Sunnyvale Galaxy, 3-1. In the championship match later in the day, Palo Alto claimed the title in the 12-team tourney with a 4-2 victory over the Davis Explosion.

Palo Alto was coached by Todd Ford and Tim Misner and included Sawyer Ford, Marvin Zou, Eric Aboytes, Jasper Wu, Navid Najamabadi, Benjamin Civjan, Kiran Misner, Tilak Misner, Benjamin Detering and Isaiah Schoenberger.
