■ Music: Ben Carroll

New York soul/folk singer and acoustic guitarist Ben Carroll plays at Red Rock Coffee tonight (March 11) at 8 p.m. His songs include "Precious Precious," "O Sarah" and "Fighting With Myself." ■ Music: English chamber music

Tonight (March 11) at 8 p.m., the San Francisco Early Music Society presents a concert of 17th-century English chamber music at the First Lutheran Church, 600 Homer Ave., Palo Alto. Musicians Peter Hallifax and Julie Jeffrey will perform on viol (viola da gamba), with guests Marie Dalby playing the treble viol and Gilbert Martinez playing the organ. Works by Simpson, Locke and Jenkins will be performed. Tickets are $28 general, $25 for seniors and society members, and $10 for students. Call 510-528-1725 or go to sfems.org.
