■ Music: Zheng Cao

Mezzo-soprano Zheng Cao will perform with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra at 8 p.m. tomorrow (March 8) in a program that includes the U.S. premiere of "Into the Bright Lights," a song cycle by Nathaniel Stookey. The concert is at Menlo-Atherton High School's performing-arts center, 555 Middlefield Road, Atherton. Cao has appeared with San Francisco Opera and has also been written about for her battle with lung cancer. The March 8 concert program also includes music by Rebel and Handel. Tickets are $30-$90. ■ Author: Cara Black

Tomorrow (March 8) at 7 p.m., San Francisco author Cara Black will give a free talk about her book "Murder in Passy," her latest murder mystery in the Aimee Leduc series. In it, Aimee investigates the killing of a police commissaire's girlfriend. The event is at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. Call 650-324-4321 or go to keplers.com.
