Big-rig crash blocks Dumbarton Bridge

All eastbound lanes, two westbound lanes were shut following fiery crash

All eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes on the Dumbarton Bridge were closed late this morning and early afternoon because of a crash involving a big-rig, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesman said.

The fiery crash incinerated the truck's cab and a vehicle, one witness reported.

Emergency crews have put out the flames and no injuries were reported, CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

Eastbound lanes were expected to be reopened by 2 p.m., according to CHP. Traffic going east on Marsh Road to the bridge was being diverted to University Avenue.

The westbound lanes were reopened as of about noon.

CHP was notified of the crash, which occurred in the middle of the span, at 11:04 a.m., Bartlett said.
