Menlo men win Cal Pac Conference basketball title

 

Drew Davis scored 16 points and the Menlo College men's basketball team won the Cal Pac Conference title Saturday with a 92-73 victory over visiting Simpson.

Dejon Grant scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Oaks (10-2, 14-12), who won their last five games.

Menlo received a first round bye and will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Atherton against the winner of Wednesday's game between Holy Names and Pacific Union.

Tyler Rajnus added 12 points and Nick McCullar had 11.

The Menlo College women's basketball team finished second after beating visiting Simpson, 83-46, Friday.

The Lady Oaks (9-3, 17-12) host Pacific Union at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a first round game.

Monique Ayers-Calvillo had 17 points and 15 rebounds for Menlo, while Erica Garcia added 15 points, Stephanie Truong had 14 and Elia Ayala 11. Brittany Taylor had nine points and six assists.
