Five-car crash briefly jams 101 -- minor injuries

Southbound lane blocked after 3:22 p.m. accident, but soon cleared

A five-car collision today on Highway 101 at the Embarcadero Road/Oregon Expressway interchange briefly jammed southbound traffic.

The crash was reported at 3:22 p.m. and the middle southbound lane was blocked, according to initial CHP reports.

Paramedics were summoned to the scene, but injuries were reported to be minor.

The cars involved included a blue Geo Metro, a silver minivan, a BMW, possibly a Chrysler and another vehicle. There was no information on the cause of the crash or why so many vehicles were involved.

Traffic was reported flowing smoothly by 4 p.m.
