■ Author: Linda Gray Sexton

Tonight (Jan. 25) at 7 p.m., Linda Gray Sexton gives a free talk about her book "Half in Love: Surviving the Legacy of Suicide." The daughter of poet Anne Sexton, the author writes about her mother's death and her efforts to escape the legacy of suicide in her family. ■ Music: Vertavo String Quartet

The Vertavo String Quartet plays a free concert tonight (Jan. 25) at 6 p.m. at the Community School of Music and Arts, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View. Aimed at families, the performance is one hour. (The Norway-based quartet will play a full Stanford Lively Arts concert at Stanford's Dinkelspiel Auditorium on Jan. 26.)
