Stanford ended its football season on a high note by winning the Orange Bowl and finishing 12-1. That, however, didn’t end the campaign for everyone on the team.

On Wednesday, linebacker/fullback Owen Marecic and nose guard Sione Fua were included among the 13 players from the Pacific-10 Conference to have accepted invitations to participate in the 62nd Under Armour Senior Bowl on January 29 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.( PT) and will be televised on the NFL Network.

Of the 13 Pac-10 players selected to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl, 11 were all-conference selections and three landed on various All-America squads.

USC leads all Pac-10 teams with three players represented in the event, followed by Stanford, UCLA and Washington, who will feature two players. Arizona, California, Oregon and Oregon State each has one representative.

The players from Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Cal, Oregon and Oregon State will suit up for the North squad while the players from USC and Arizona will play for the South.

Marecic was a first team All-America selection by the American Football Coaches Association of America. The inaugural winner of the Paul Hornung Award honoring college football’s most versatile player, Marecic finished as Stanford’s fifth-leading tackler with 51 stops and also had five rushing touchdowns from the fullback position.

Fua, who anchored Stanford’s defensive line from the nose guard position, earned second team All-Pac-10 recognition this year after totaling 23 tackles, including 4.5 sacks.

The Senior Bowl is college football’s premier pre-draft event, annually featuring the nation’s best senior collegiate football stars and top NFL draft prospects on teams coached by NFL coaching staffs.
