■ Talk: "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming."

Dr. Mike Brown of Caltech will give an illustrated, non-technical talk on "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming" tomorrow (Jan. 19) at 7 p.m. at Smithwick Theater, Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Brown has led the effort to find worlds beyond Neptune, and his work directly led to the demotion of Pluto. For more information, visit Foothill College.

■ Beginner's Zen Meditation

Stanford Zen, a newly formed non-religious group, will lead a Zen-meditation group for beginners each Wednesday starting tomorrow (Jan. 19) at 7 p.m. at C.I.R.C.L.E. Sanctuary, Old Union third floor, Lasuen Mall, Stanford. For more information, visit Stanford Zen.
