Nnemkadi Ogwumike earns Pac-10 Player of the Week award

Stanford junior forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike has been named the Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the No. 4-ranked Cardinal to a pair of road wins last week.

Ogwumike averaged 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, and shot 65.4 percent (17-for-26) from the field, leading the Cardinal to a road sweep of Washington and Washington State over the weekend.

Ogwumike posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in Friday's 80-51 win over UW and followed that with a 20-point, eight-rebound effort at WSU on Sunday.

Defensively, Ogwumike contributed to a team effort that held the Huskies and Cougars to a combined 30.3-percent shooting (37-for-122) from the field as Stanford improved to 5-0 in Pac-10 play.

It is Ogwumike's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor of the season and the fourth of her career. It is also Stanford's 77th all-time selection and second this year.

The Cardinal will host 10th-ranked UCLA (5-0, 15-1) on Thursday (7 p.m.) before closing the weekend by hosting USC on Saturday.
