Tomorrow's events (Jan. 12)

■ Art: Palo Alto Art Center

The new winter exhibitions at the Palo Alto Art Center include photos of Patrick Dougherty's environmental sculptures -- and Dougherty himself, creating a new work outside at the art center through Jan. 28. The photos are up through March 31, together with other works including basketry by Ruth Asawa, Gyongy Laki and other artists. The center is at 1313 Newell Road, open free to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m., and Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. For details about the shows, go to cityofpaloalto.org.

■ Film: 'Stiliagi (Hipsters)'

Tomorrow (Jan. 12) at 7 p.m., a free screening of the Russian film "Stiliagi (Hipsters)" is planned at Slavianskii Dom, 650 Mayfield Ave. The 2009 film, directed by Valerii Todorovskii, is about youthful Soviet rebels in the 1950s. The film is 125 minutes long and has English subtitles. For more information, call 650-725-2563 or go to events.stanford.edu.
