Menlo College's Harris earns Cal Pac men's basketball honors


Menlo College senior Julian Harris averaged earned Cal Pac Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Harris, who leads the conference with 2.69 3-pointers per contest and 1.77 steals, averaged 18 points and four rebounds for the Oaks, who lost twice last week: 64-45 to host Fresno Pacific last Tuesday and 87-70 to Notre Dame De Namur in Belmont on Friday.

Harris ranks second in the Cal Pac with a 19.5 scoring average. Holy Names' David Scott tops the list at 22.1 and also leads with 7.4 rebounds and five double-doubles. Menlo's Nick McCullar is seventh with a 11.4 scoring average and fifth in rebounding (5.33), just ahead of teammate Tim Tatum's 5.0.

Menlo (3-10) opens the conference season Thursday, hosting Holy Names (9-8) at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Oaks (7-9) also host the Hawks (5-12) Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Menlo's Erika Garcia is fourth (12.9) in scoring in the Cal Pac (and third in assists) while Brittany Taylor is ninth (10.9). Oaks' Elisa Ayala leads the conference with 7.77 rebounds a game, with Kelsey Grozier tied for third (with Holy Names' Yesenia Garzon) with 6.4 boards.
