A former dog walker charged with stealing his clients' jewelry is scheduled to appear in San Mateo County Superior Court today (Dec. 27), according to the district attorney's office.
San Mateo resident Nicolas Barbanica, 32, is charged with stealing jewelry worth more than $5,500 from his dog-walking clients during the time he worked for them between October and November 2009, according to the district attorney's office.
Prosecutors claim Barbanica was given keys to various homes in San Mateo to walk dogs and stole jewelry from the homes on multiple occasions. The suspect then gave the jewelry to his girlfriend to pawn, according to the district attorney's office.
Barbanica is charged with four counts of residential burglary and remains in custody in San Mateo County Jail on $500,000 bail.
