Minivan stolen from garage while family sleeps

A gray, 2008 Honda Odyssey minivan was stolen out of the garage of a home on the 3300 block of Brower Avenue in Mountain View sometime overnight between Dec. 16 and 17, after a burglar or burglars broke into the house and took money from a wallet along with the vehicle's keys, police said.

The house's residents -- a family -- were sleeping at home at the time the crime occurred, but were not roused, according to Mountain View police spokeswoman Jaime Garrett.

Police believe the thief, or thieves, gained access to the home through an external garage door, took the keys, opened the main garage door and fled with the car, Garrett said. Police have no suspects at this time.

"Lock all your doors," Garrett said, "and remember, your garage is also a point of entry to your home."

The case is still under investigation.
