Dog doors invite break-ins. Even cat doors, when an arm can reach in to unlatch the chain lock on the door! Even 12 year olds know this.
Maybe it was a LARGE dog door and a small perp.

I wouldn't mind if someone stole our game consoles; I never liked those things anyways.

Booby trap that thing. If someone violates the sanctity of your property, they deserve whatever they get. Guillotine anyone???

Dear Burglars,

We have a cat door.

We also have an 18-pound cat with all her claws. She defends her territory.

If you stick your head in the cat door, she'll go for your eyes.

Worse than that, there is a video camera. We'll put you on Youtube.

Sincerely,
Bill, Alice, and the cat

Profiling anybody? Look for a very tiny, but buff, intruder.
