Criste earns Pac-10 monthly swimming honor

Stanford's John Criste was named Pac-10 Male Swimmer of the Month for November after winning the tri-distance breast events against Cal and both breast events at the Arena Invite.

In Long Beach, the senior captain twice set the meet record in the 100 breast, finishing with a mark of 53.37, the nation's fastest time. His time in the 200 breast (1:57.60) was the third-fastest time in the nation.

The seven-time All-American entered his final season No. 1 all-time at Stanford in the 100 breast (51.75) and third all-time in the 200 breast (1:52.98).

Recent Stanford grad Joseph Bramlett earned his Tour card after surviving the 252-hole PGA Qualifying School that concluded on Monday following three stages.

Bramlett, 22, earned his card by two strokes as he finished among the top 25 after starting the day in 33rd place. He bogeyed two of his first three holes to slip out of contention before rallying on the final 15 holes.

Bramlett birdied the fourth hole and had five straight birdies from holes 8-12 before playing even par the rest of the way to finish with a 4-under 68. That moved him up 17 spots on the leaderboard as he concluded the marathon qualifying at 11 under.
