■ Author: Amy Sedaris

Comedian and author Amy Sedaris will give a talk at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Nov. 17) at Spangenberg Theatre, Gunn High School, 780 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. The event is a benefit for Breast Cancer Connections, and Sedaris will talk about her new book, "Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People." ■ Talk: Jennifer Aaker

Jennifer Aaker, a Stanford marketing professor and author of the book "The Dragonfly Effect," will give a free talk at 4:30 p.m. today (Nov. 17) in the NVIDIA Auditorium, 475 Via Ortega, Stanford University. Aaker's research looks at time, money and happiness, covering such questions as: "How do small acts create significant change?" The event is part of the university's Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders Seminar weekly speaker series. Go to events.stanford.edu.
