COMMUNITY NOTEBOOK: Palo Alto holds 'Sandbag Saturday' Nov. 20

Volunteers needed to fill and distribute sandbags to community

The City of Palo Alto will hold a "Sandbag Saturday" event this Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Palo Alto Municipal Services Center (MSC) at 3201 E. Bayshore Road.

Volunteers are needed to fill sandbags and to deliver the bags, which are used to prevent flooding during storms, to residents who require assistance in getting the bags to their homes.

Volunteers can sign up online to register for two-hour shifts. High school students can receive community-service credit for participating in the event.

Gloves, hardhats and safety goggles are required and will be provided as needed.

For more information, call 650-617-3197.
