Maintenance work on Alma Street may cause traffic delays Tuesday (Nov. 9), Palo Alto Communications Manager Linda Clerkson said in a statement. The one-day work will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on northbound Alma, between El Verano and El Dorado avenues.

The work is being done as part of the Alma Street Concrete Restoration Project. Clerkson said that the city has hired Granite Construction to “finish the asphalt work in the outside northbound lane in order to eliminate the ponding of water runoff during the rainy season.

“The contractor will grind out a seven-foot-wide patch of asphalt next to the new gutter pan. They will then replace it with new asphalt that will have a constant slope to the gutter. The work will take one day to complete, unless delayed by weather,” Clerkson said in the statement.

Clerkson warned that drivers could face lane closures and delays during the construction.

“Residents will only be able to turn right out of their driveways and from cross streets. There may be delays when the new asphalt is being placed in front of your driveway,” she said in the statement.
