Stanford sends six tennis players to New York

Senior Hilary Barte and junior Bradley Klahn are among the six tennis players from Stanford who will compete at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, scheduled to begins Thursday at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Barte will be joined by fellow women's players Kristie Ahn, Mallory Burdette and Nicole Gibbs.

Ahn claimed the singles crown in a match-up with Gibbs at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships. Ahn and Gibbs also reached the doubles final.

Additionally, Ahn won three qualifying matches to become the youngest player in the 2008 US Open main draw while Gibbs was the runner-up at the 2010 USTA Girls' 18s National Championships.

Barte captured the singles and doubles titles at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, with Burdette joining her in taking home the doubles crown.

Klahn, the defending NCAA singles champion, is joined by Ryan Thacher. Klahn reached the semifinals of the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships in his only action to date this year.

Thacher reached the third round of that same tournament, and also advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
