■ Halloween: Gamble Garden

Tonight (Oct. 29) from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Gamble Garden hosts a haunted house in its mansion at 1431 Waverley St. in Palo Alto, with costumes, games and other activities. The event is aimed at trick-or-treaters ages 4 to 10 accompanied by adults, with tickets priced at $15 general and $10 for Gamble Garden members. ■ Music: Glass Wave

Glass Wave, a band profiled in the Weekly and composed mainly of Stanford professors, performs its Western literature-inspired songs at a free concert at 8 p.m. tonight (Oct. 29). The concert is in the Cubberley Auditorium at Stanford University's School of Education. Musicians will play and talk about their literature/music project, which includes tunes inspired by Shakespeare and Melville. Go to events.stanford.edu.
