■ Talk: 'Social Networking/Marketing'

Susannah Greenwood, who is director of local marketing at Artsopolis.com (and also grew up in Palo Alto), will give a talk at 2 p.m. today (Oct. 26) on social networking and marketing. The event is at Little House, 800 Middle Ave., Menlo Park. The San Jose-based Artsopolis is an online guide to arts and culture. Admission to the talk is $2 general and $1 for Little House members. ■ Art: 'Opposite Attraction'

Huge abstract paintings by Jane Peterman are paired with simple bronzes of animals by Kristine Taylor at the current exhibition at Gallery House, 320 S. California Ave., Palo Alto. Taylor is a Portola Valley artist, while Peterman's studio is in Palo Alto. The show runs through Nov. 13, open Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday from 11 to 8, and Sundays from 11 to 3. Admission is free.
