■ Music: 'Harmony for Humanity'

Tonight (Oct. 7) at 8 p.m., Stanford's Memorial Church hosts the annual event "Harmony for Humanity: Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert." The free tribute to the slain Wall Street Journal reporter and Stanford graduate features performances by faculty and students from the university's music department. Go to livelyarts.stanford.edu.

■ Opera: West Bay Opera preview

Cast members from West Bay Opera's "La forza del destino" will give a free preview of the production tonight (Oct. 7) at 8 p.m. The event will be held with piano at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road. (The Verdi opera opens Oct. 15 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.) For more information, go to wbopera.org.
