Tomorrow (Oct. 5), a reception is being held for German-born artist Heike Liss and her photo exhibition "Home is When I Belong," with images of what constitutes home. The free reception is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Clayman Institute, Serra House, 589 Capistrano Way, Stanford University. Author and blogger Steven Kotler gives a free talk tomorrow (Oct. 5) at 7 p.m. on his book "A Small Furry Prayer: Dog Rescue and the Meaning of Life." The event is at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. Kotler and his partner started a New Mexico sanctuary for dogs with special needs; he also writes for various publications and pens "The Playing Field," a PsychologyToday.com blog about the science of sport athletics.
