■ Los Altos Fall Festival

The 19th annual Los Altos Fall Festival, featuring activities for kids, exhibitions, contests, music and crafts, will be held Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 2 and 3) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the south parking plaza in downtown Los Altos. For more information, visit www.losaltoschamber.org.

■ Palo Alto Black & White Ball

The Palo Alto Black & White Ball, featuring a masquerade theme, fine dining and live entertainment, will be held Saturday (Oct. 2) at 7:30 p.m. at Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Tickets are $90-$135. For more information, visit www.thepaloaltoblackandwhiteball.org.

■ Gamble Garden Community Day
