Ten teens were detained by Palo Alto police and cited for public drunkenness following a Saturday-night binge-drinking party at Peers Park.
Paramedics transported one youth to Hospital for treatment of alcohol poisoning, according to police spokesman Max Nielepko.
The juveniles, most of whom are Palo Alto residents, consumed large quantities of alcohol at the park, located at 1899 Park Blvd. in the Evergreen Park neighborhood, Nielepko said.
At about 9 p.m., the teens made their way to Illusions Fayrouz Dining & Entertainment at 260 California Ave., a local nightspot. A security guard at the nightclub noticed their excessive intoxication and called police.
The youths were cited for public drunkenness, a misdemeanor, and held by police until their parents or guardians arrived to take them home.
"One was intoxicated to a degree that we had to call paramedics and he was transported to the hospital for treatment," Nielepko said.
The cases will be forwarded to the juvenile division and the Santa Clara County Juvenile Probation Department to determine if charges will be pressed, he said.
