Senior outside hitter led Stanford to tournament victory in New Mexico

Stanford senior outside hitter Alix Klineman was named Pac-10 Conference women's volleyball Player of the Week on Monday after earning Most Valuable Player honors over the weekend in the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic in Albuquerque.

The third-ranked Cardinal swept three matches at the tournament, with Klineman leading the team in kills in all three. She had her first double-double of the season in what turned out to be the championship match against host New Mexico, with 19 kills and 10 digs.

Klineman, returning to full strength after a season of shoulder troubles, averaged 5.2 kills a game and recorded a .384 hitting percentage over the weekend.

The Cardinal hosts the Stanford Invitational this weekend, opening against UC Irvine on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Stanford's scrimmage at Maples Pavilion on Tuesday will be open to the public. It begins at 4:30 p.m.
