■ Exhibit: 'Flowers, Fields and Forests -- Photographs from the Bay Area and Beyond'

The Portola Art Gallery presents "Flowers, Fields and Forests -- Photographs from the Bay Area and Beyond," a collection of local-landscape images by photographer Frances Freyberg of Menlo Park, today (Aug. 18) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. ■ Film: 'Easter Parade'

The classic musical "Easter Parade" starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland will be shown today (Aug. 18) at 7:30 p.m. at the Stanford Theatre, 221 University Ave., Palo Alto. Admission is $7 and includes admission to the film "Holiday Inn" at 5:35 or 9:25 p.m. For more information, visit Stanford Theatre.

The 33rd Annual Palo Alto Weekly Short Story Contest is now accepting entries for Adult, Young Adult (15-17) and Teen (12-14) categories. Send us your short story (2,500 words or less) and entry form by March 29. First, Second and Third Place prizes awarded in each category.
