• Theater: 'Omeros'

Stanford Summer Theatre presents free staged readings tomorrow (Aug. 10) and Wednesday (Aug. 11) of Derek Walcott's "Omeros," which re-sets Homer's heroes in the Caribbean. Performances are at 8 p.m. in Pigott Theater, behind Memorial Auditorium at Stanford University. To reserve free tickets in advance, go to stanford.edu.

• Music: 'Spanish Inspirations'

Tomorrow (Aug. 10) at 8 p.m., the "Spanish Inspirations" concert from the Music@Menlo chamber-music festival features mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, the Jupiter String Quartet and other musicians in a program of Spanish and Spanish-inspired music. Composers include Isaac Albeniz, Manuel de Falla and Claude Debussy. The concert is at Menlo-Atherton High School's new performing-arts center, 555 Middlefield Road, Atherton. Tickets are $60/$50 for adults and $30/$20 for students. Go to musicatmenlo.org.
