Jazz pianist George Cables and his band performs today (Aug. 2) at 8 p.m. at Dinkelspiel Auditorium, 471 Lagunita Drive, Stanford. Tickets are $18-32. A 7 p.m. talk is included in admission price. For more information, visit events.stanford.edu.

• Music: Music@Menlo Prelude performance

Young local musicians from the Chamber Music Institute perform music of Beethoven and Mozart today (Aug. 2) at 6 p.m. at Martin Family Hall, Menlo School, 50 Valparaiso Ave., Atherton.
