Armed men invade Menlo Park home

Two men armed with handguns invaded a home Saturday morning (July 31) in the 1200 block of San Mateo Drive in Menlo Park, police report.

One of the men held a female resident at gunpoint and ordered her to remain quiet, police said.

The other armed man took an iPhone from another female resident and then fled on foot when other residents in the house heard the commotion, said Officer Paul Phu of the Menlo Park Police Department.

No one was injured and the iPhone was the only item reported taken in the incident, which occurred at around 8:56 a.m., Phu said.

One suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s and approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black beanie-type cap and dark clothing, police said.

The other suspect was described as a heavyset Hispanic man, about 28 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and with a dark complexion. He was wearing blue jeans, a white long-sleeve T-shirt under a blue collared shirt, and black tennis shoes. He had short hair, a thin mustache and spoke Spanish, police said.

Officers from neighboring cities assisted in a search but the suspects were not found.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call either Detective Jeff Vasquez at 650-330-6363, Detective Sergeant Jaime Romero at 650-330-6361, or the anonymous tip line at 650-330-6395.

Hope it's not the start of the economic revolution. Don't wait for the tax code to change, or a stimulus package to actually benefit the have-nots. Just rob the haves.

Steve C's post is priceless!

Idiots with weapons, wish it was the first and last time we'd here a story like this. Very scary for the victims, this is terrible...close to a school and downtown.

These thieves should be publicly mocked, ridiculed and thrown into a prison with cameras to show what kind of animals that criminals like this truly are!

Something needs to be done to curb the increase in crime amongst certain groups. You would think that these men would realize that a job at Wal-Mart pays an average of $12 per hour + benefits to stock boys. You could purchase an iPhone after working two days AND not worry about killing, stealing or going to jail.

But thugs like this don't care. They are part of the new "poor me" welfare mentality that is plaguing inner cities and causing children to grow up feeling "entitled" to the things that hard working people purchase.

My heart goes out to this poor family who was robbed by men who don't deserve to live in a free society.
