• Author talk: David Carnoy

Tonight (July 27), author David Carnoy will give a free talk about his novel "Knife Music" at Kepler's Books. The mystery thriller is about a doctor accused of murdering a teenage girl. Carnoy is an executive editor at CBS Interactive; "Knife Music" is his first novel. The talk will be held at 7 p.m. at Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park. • Dance: 'Dancing on the Square'

Tonight (July 27) at 6 p.m., visitors can learn to dance the cha-cha in downtown Redwood City's Courthouse Square. The city-sponsored event includes mini-lessons, demonstrations and open social dancing for all ages. No partner or experience is necessary. Call 650-780-7250 or go to redwoodcity.org.
