Update: Atherton protest lasted 30 minutes

Rally in front of gubernatorial candidnate Meg Whitman's Atherton home ends quickly

Today's (July 15) protest organized by the California Nurses Association in front of the Atherton home of Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman ended at 1:45 p.m., about 30 minutes after it began.

"The crowd is leaving and taking all their signs back with them," said Palo Alto Weekly reporter Georgia Wells. "In 15 minutes, you won't be able to tell anything happened."

The protestors boarded buses that were parked on Oak Grove and Ringwood avenues.

Police said there were no arrests and no violent incidents.

During the short demonstration, hundreds of protestors filled the street, marching back and forth and chanting with a drummer: "Hey, Whitman, you can't hide, we can see your greedy side."

Whitman was not at home, but at a campaign event in Ontario, Calif., her campaign announced.
