Tomorrow's events (July 16)

 

• Art: 'Art in the Garden'

Tomorrow (July 16) and Saturday (July 17), Gamble Garden at 1431 Waverley St. in Palo Alto hosts 21 artists in an en plein air painting event. Friday evening is a reception for the artists from 5:30 to 7:30, and on Saturday the artists paint outdoors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the public can watch them in action and later buy the new works of art. Tickets are $20 for the reception, which also includes an exhibition of the artists' work and a chance to buy their paintings. Admission to the Saturday painting day is free, with 30 percent of the proceeds from purchased paintings going to Gamble Garden. For more information call 650-329-1356 or go to gamblegarden.org.

• Family film: 'Earth'

The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University tomorrow (July 16) hosts an outdoor free family film night on the museum's South Lawn. The G-rated 2009 film "Earth," which follows animal familes migrating, will be shown at 8:30 p.m. Box dinners and snacks will be available for sale. Go to museum.stanford.edu.
