• Theater: 'New Beulah'

The New York theater group Shelby Company (named after Gunn High School drama teacher Jim Shelby) opens its play "New Beulah" tomorrow (July 14) after a July 13 preview at the Pear Avenue Theatre, 1220 Pear Ave., Unit K, Mountain View. Written and directed by Gunn graduate Dan Moyer, the play is a series of vignettes about the problems of daily life in a small town. Performances are at 8 p.m. tomorrow (after a 7:30 preview on July 13), July 15 and 16; and at 2 and 8 p.m. on July 17 and 18. Tickets are $20 general and $15 for those under 25, except for the July 16 benefit performance, which costs $40. Call 650-254-1148 or go to shelbycompany.org.

• Community: Bastille Day

Musicians will play accordion and classical and flamenco guitar, with a background of flags and balloons, for a celebration of Bastille Day tomorrow (July 14) at Bistro Vida, 641 Santa Cruz Ave., Menlo Park.
