A first date ended with kidnapping charges, after a Redwood City man refused to let a woman out of his car early Tuesday morning, Mountain View police said.
A 31-year-old Sunnyvale woman told police that she was persuaded to enter her date's van, parked on the 200 block of Castro Street, so he could give her flowers. She was in the passenger seat when the man began driving, according to Mountain View Police Department spokeswoman Liz Wylie. He refused to let her out of the vehicle, Wylie said.
When the van slowed down, near the intersection of White Oak Lane and Lawrence Expressway in Santa Clara, the woman opened the passenger door and fled to a nearby 7-Eleven, where she dialed 911 at about 1:40 a.m.
Santa Clara police responded, located the van and detained Charles Robinson, 24, until Mountain View Police arrived. Robinson was arrested and charged with kidnapping.

It should read, "...and fled to a nearby 7-Eleven, where she dialed 9-Eleven..."

Ladies need a safe date site where she can leave the name, address, phone number of a date just in case.

I'm glad that other post blaming the victim was removed.
I'm glad she got away safely, in stark contrast to the PA victim who was recently brutalized.
Maybe it was a power play by this guy - but who knows? It sounds scary. Aren't we supposed to be on our best behavior early on in a relationship? If that's the case, can you imagine this guy's worst behavior? I'd be interested in knowing what happens to this case, if he has a criminal record, etc.

Well, I guess they didn't give enough info on the guy so everyone could judge him accordingly, everyone must have moved on to a story with more descriptions where you would feel more comfortable.
My guess is that this was a first date from a meeting online, the date was planned, the guy brought flowers but the girl ended up calling the police, sounds like she didn't get to know him very well first. I'm glad she got away, but why hasn't the public been notified to look out for someone like this guy? Maybe he's a cub scout with a great GPA and has been accepted into a fancy college? I "guess" some criminals are better than others!

LOL, thanks for that bit of levity! No doubt!
