Palo Alto police tried to arrest Paul Ekins, 21, on an arrest warrant Saturday morning at a College Avenue home but Ekins refused to leave the house so a police dog was used to help capture him, Sgt. Sandra Brown said.
The dog bit Ekins on his leg when Ekins struggled and then bit him on his arm when he struggled with officers after being subdued the first time.
Ekins was given a warning that the dog would be used if he didn't come out, Brown said.
The arrest occurred at 7:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of College Avenue.
Ekins was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for suspicion of possession and sale of narcotics.
Ekins was treated for the dog bites and later booked into jail.
