Suspect in MV murder arrested

 

The suspect in an Aug. 21 murder in Mountain View has been arrested in Tuscon, Arizona, police reported Saturday.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Maurice Sayers, 24, of Mountain View, was arrested for a traffic violation in Tuscon. Police there noted a warrant for his arrest out of Mountan View on suspicion of murder, and arrested him for that.

The victim of the Aug. 21 murder was identified as Nocomes Noel III, 26, of East Palo Alto. Mountain View police had responded to a 7:45 p.m. report of gunfire at Old Middlefield Road and Rengstorff Avenue. They found Noel lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed there was a group of persons in front of the strip mall on the southwest corner of the intersection and that an altercation occurred, leading to gunshots. The suspect and others involved fled the scene but the suspect was subsequently idenified.

An extradition hearing is scheduled for next week, according to a press release from the Mountain View Police Department.
