Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Like many kids, our son changed his mind about what he wanted to be for Halloween this year. Most years we spend quite a bit of time planning our costume, designing it, cutting it out of cardboard, painting it, and fixing any issues long before Halloween rolls around. But this year he was planning to use a costume we already owned…until a week ago.

Last week when we were getting ready for Trick-or-Treat Street, it was clear to me that I had a decision to make. Would I make him stick with his original costume idea? Or, since we had a week, let him figure out an alternative?

I decided to work with him and try to make a new costume that he liked better. We all change our minds, sometimes for the better. I did warn him that his costume would be much less elaborate this year since we were designing and making this one in days rather than in weeks.

Although I ended up needing to make a last minute run to Target and Michaels for supplies the day before Halloween, I was excited to make a costume with him again this year. It’s a tradition I wasn’t quite ready to stop. It’s a Halloween memory I’m glad we made together.
