Our family recently watched the movie Inside Out. Although it is an animated movie, this outing was definitely more for my husband and myself than for our two little ones.

Our daughter enjoyed watching bits and pieces but slept through most of the movie. And although Inside Out has a train, our son would have preferred to watch something with more vehicles in it.

My husband and I both very much enjoyed watching the movie. It was an entertaining family outing and also a wonderful reminder to support our kids as they experience a wide variety of emotions.

Our son isn’t three yet, but I still talked with him about emotions and memories after the movie. I kept our conversation simple and started by asking him about his favorite memories with us. His answers didn’t surprise me – playing with cars, playing with trucks and scoring goals. I’d love to watch the movie again when our kids are a little older and see how our conversation evolves.

Have you seen Inside Out yet? Did your kids enjoy it? What conversations did you have with your kids afterwards?
