Birthday Parties - a chance to celebrate and reconnectUploaded: Jun 2, 2015
When our son was younger, birthday parties usually felt like one large play date. Many took place at the park filled mainly with people we had just seen earlier that week.
Now that our son and many of his friends are turning three, birthday parties are sometimes not only a chance to celebrate but also an opportunity to reunite with friends whom we haven't seen for awhile.
This year was filled with new siblings, preschool, classes, and busier schedules... all making it more challenging to meet up during the week. A baby sleeps through a park or play date. A toddler gets sick. A baby doesn't sleep well at night. Or our kids are just on different daily routines.
Luckily many of our friends make attending birthday parties a high priority - one mom even brought her 10 day old baby to a birthday party over the weekend. That takes motivation!
I'm looking forward to a summer filled with many celebrations and reunions. What better way to welcome the preschooler years.
