Sometimes it’s important to step back and take in the everyday moments of parenthood. The routines that seem to repeat themselves over and over and over again until one day our kids move on and these daily activities are replaced with new ones.

We parents usually take videos when our kids do something extraordinary. It’s easy to forget to document the things they do day in and day out. And even when you want to, it’s not always easy to capture these routines.

Recently a mother attempted to do just that. She took a time-lapse video of a day in her life parenting three kids under the age of five. It is an adorable video filled with train tracks, backwards crawling, and vacuuming.

It was wonderful to be invited into this family’s life and to see something so personal. If our family made a video it would probably look quite different from hers. If taken this week it might have included a trip to the zoo, an afternoon playing with cousins, an outing to the movies, fun outside with water and bubbles, or a call to grandparents, along with of course, our family’s everyday routines. But I hope it would similarly have shown parents spending lots of quality time with their kids.

How do you celebrate the daily life of parenthood?
