Haute hot dog eatery Chez Franc, facing unanticipated delays on opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 415 California Ave. in Palo Alto, is officially going mobile with the launch of a food truck currently making its way around Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

Follow the truck’s schedule/location on Twitter or Facebook. If you don’t have dinner plans tonight, it will be parked at 131 Lytton Ave. outside of Issuu Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Here’s the current food truck menu:

– Latin style: bacon-wrapped organic all-beef frankfurter with smoky bean aioli, spicy chorizo, avocado mousse, heirloom tomato slices, salsa verde, crema, and micro-
cilantro ($12)

– Tokyo style: organic all-beef frankfurter, bacon, taré sauce, caramelized cabbage, Japanese mayo, bonito flakes, scallions and nori ($10)

– French style: organic all-beef frankfurter, Riesling-braised sauerkraut, truffled brie,
spicy mustard with sauterne ($12)

– Summer style: organic all-beef frankfurter, burrata, speck prosciutto, peach salsa, balsamic, and fresh basil ($12)

– All-American style: organic all-beef frankfurter, short rib chili, St. George cheddar, bacon, scallions and cilantro ($10)

– Italian style: organic all-beef frankfurter, spicy crumbled Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, chili flakes, garlic, pecorino-romano cheese ($12)

– Vegetarian caprese: burrata, tomato, aged balsamic, basil, salsa verde (cornichons, capers, shallots, fine herbs, olive oil and lemon) ($10)

The Chez Franc kitchen is headed by Dan Sung, a longtime sous chef at Michelin-starred The Village Pub in Woodside.

Construction is currently underway at the restaurant, but owner Jacquetta Lannan, a former attorney and culinary school graduate, just didn’t want to wait any longer to get her gourmet dogs out there.

Unfortunately, however, she’s still facing some budget challenges, and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to hopefully get the green she needs to purchase a new meat chopper, sausage stuffer and smoker. These very necessary sausage-making items cost a cool $37,000.

If you’re unfamiliar with Kickstarter, Lannan has a certain amount of time to raise her funding goal; if she doesn’t reach it, she loses any donations made. She has until Sept. 2 and with 26 days to go, has raised $5,500 from 36 backers.

Depending on how much they give, backers get fun perks from a limited edition Chez Franc kitchen towel or postcard ($20 donation) to a multicourse dinner for you and five friends at the restaurant ($500 or more). Feeling generous (and hungry)? Pledge $10,000 or more and you will be dubbed the “queen or king of Chez Franc” and can eat as much as you want at the restaurant for the first six months it’s opened.
