To celebrate the opening of a new Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop at Daly City's Serramonte Center Saturday, the store will be handing out free ice cream to its first 500 guests.

The ice cream free-for-all starts at 11 a.m., and visitors will also be given scratch-off cards with a chance to win free ice cream for a year.

Specialty seasonal offerings on the menu include the peppermint bark “dazzler” made with hot fudge, chocolate cookies, whipped cream, and crushed peppermint pieces in peppermint bark ice cream. They’re also offering a peppermint bark shake and peppermint-dipped waffle cone.
