Boba cafe headed to Menlo Park

Uploaded: May 23, 2019
Mr. Green Bubble, a Bay Area boba cafe, is opening this summer in downtown Menlo Park.

Signs for the new establishment are up at 604 Santa Cruz Ave., which was last occupied by 32 Fahrenheit Japanese Bistro.

Other Mr. Green Bubble locations in Oakland, Union City and Walnut Creek serve Taiwanese bubble tea as well as fresh juice, smoothies, mochi waffles and some savory snack food (think popcorn chicken, waffle fries and takoyaki).

Mr. Green Bubble is set to open in July or August, the owner said via Facebook.

Despite boba's surge in popularity throughout the Bay Area, dedicated bubble tea shops are still few and far between in Menlo Park. Another boba cafe, Tea It Up, is set to open nearby at 933 El Camino Real this fall.

"Menlo Park is in dire need of boba tea," Menlo Park Planning Commissioner Michael Doran said at a March hearing on that cafe's permit.
