More boba on its way to Palo Alto

Uploaded: Nov 5, 2015
Share Tea, an international Taiwanese milk-tea, or boba, chain with locations throughout the Bay Area, has taken over a downtown Palo Alto space.

A Share Tea sign announcing "coming soon" appeared recently at 540 Bryant St. The company did not return request for comment.

Like the other two downtown milk-tea shops (T4 on University Avenue and Gong Cha on Waverley Street), Share Tea serves create-your-own or pre-set combinations of tea flavors like classic pearl milk, oolong, black and green tea and more, plus toppings (fruit, popping boba, aloe vera and even ice cream at Share Tea).

A sampling of T4’s many milk-tea drinks: from left, caramel milk tea with egg pudding; elegant rose royal tea with rainbow jelly; passion fruit smoothie with coconut and coffee jelly; peppermint milk tea with boba and classic rose milk tea with grass jelly. The first Share Tea opened in Taipei City in Taiwan in 1992, according to the company’s website. More locations, including franchises, followed throughout the globe -- in China, the U.S., Canada, England, Dubai, Singapore and beyond. The company first expanded into the United States in 2013.

Other milk-tea spots have popped up throughout Palo Alto this year, including Pop Tea Bar on Cambridge Avenue and Valencia Asian Market on El Camino Real.

Anything like this around Midtown or California Ave? We really don't like fighting the traffic around downtown.
